Handcrafted in Hatton Garden · Bespoke Since 1999

An embellished ring carries diamonds beyond its centre stone. They might run along the band, climb the shoulders or sit as a halo around the principal diamond. Used with judgement, these accents catch light from every angle and make the centre read larger and brighter, without overwhelming the design you actually came for.

Pave and micro-pave

Pave sets small diamonds close together, held by tiny beads of metal raised from the band. The surface reads as a continuous line of light rather than a row of individual stones. Micro-pave does the same on a finer scale, using smaller diamonds for a softer, more even sparkle. Both reward precise benchwork, since the beads must be even and secure.

We cut and set every pave seat by hand at our own bench, so the line follows the curve of your finger rather than a standard template. This is where careful making shows: a well-set pave band stays bright for years and holds its stones through daily wear.

Diamond-set shoulders

Setting diamonds into the shoulders, the part of the band that rises to meet the centre, draws the eye upward and frames the principal stone. The effect is graduated and quietly generous. You can carry the stones a short way down each shoulder or extend them further toward a fully set band, closer in spirit to eternity rings.

  • Partial shoulders: diamonds along the top third, leaving plain metal below for comfort and a clean line against a wedding band.
  • Three-quarter set: stones running most of the way round, with the underside left plain for resizing.
  • Full band: diamonds all the way around for maximum light, set in platinum or 18ct gold.

The hidden halo

A traditional halo encircles the centre stone on the top of the ring. A hidden halo sits beneath it, set into the basket so the diamonds are visible only from the side. The face of the ring stays close to a clean solitaire, while a discreet ring of stones lifts the centre and adds light when the hand turns. It is a considered choice for clients who want detail without a wider profile.

Balancing sparkle against the centre

The accent stones should serve the centre, not compete with it. We choose the size and grade of the pave to sit a step below the principal diamond, so the eye settles where it should. Matching the accents in colour to the centre keeps the whole ring consistent under daylight. Every diamond we use, natural or laboratory-grown, is independently graded, so you know exactly what frames your stone.

Common questions

Do embellished settings need more maintenance?

Pave and micro-pave hold many small stones, so an occasional check of the settings is sensible, as it is with any fine ring. We are happy to inspect and clean your ring at the studio whenever you bring it in.

Will accent diamonds make a smaller centre stone look bigger?

A halo or diamond-set shoulders adds surrounding light that makes the centre read larger and brighter. The centre keeps its own character; the embellishment simply gives it a more generous frame.

How much does an embellished ring cost?

Settings start from £800 and complete bespoke engagement rings start from £1,500. Pave and additional stones add to that figure depending on how many diamonds you choose and their grade. We give a clear quotation before any work begins.
