Step-cut diamond, bezel and halo

Stone: square step-cut diamond. Metal: platinum. Setting: full bezel inside a geometric pavé halo with milgrain edges, diamond-set shoulders. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. A step cut flashes rather than sparkles, so the sparkle was given to the halo around it.

Three-row bezel ring with a champagne centre

Stone: eight round brilliants in graduated sizes, the centre a champagne diamond. Metal: yellow gold, the centre bezel in rose gold. Setting: three joined bands, every stone in a full bezel. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. The one coloured stone sits in the one rose bezel, so the warmth is placed, not scattered.

Emerald and diamond cluster

Stone: round brilliant centre, a scalloped line of calibré-cut emeralds, an outer halo of round diamonds. Metal: platinum. Setting: millgrain bezels throughout over a pierced gallery. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. Every stone is bezel set, so the emeralds draw one clean green line rather than a row of claws.

Oval sapphire in yellow gold

Stone: oval blue sapphire. Metal: yellow gold. Setting: four double claws, a halo of round diamonds, a three-strand split shank. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. The shank opens beneath the head so a stone this size does not sit heavy on the hand.

Cushion sapphire with a double halo

Stone: cushion-cut blue sapphire. Metal: platinum. Setting: four claws, two concentric halos of round diamonds, pavé shank. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. The inner halo sits flush to the stone and the outer stands a little proud, which is what makes the sapphire read a size larger than it is.

Oval sapphire in a lobed halo

Stone: oval blue sapphire. Metal: platinum. Setting: six claws inside a lobed diamond halo, plain shank. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. The stone sits above the halo rather than inside it, so the blue is lit from the side as well as from above.

Three emerald cuts, bezel set

Stone: three emerald-cut diamonds. Metal: yellow gold. Setting: three full bezels on a wide triple-band shank. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. No claws anywhere, so the three stones sit flush and the gold does the framing.

Three-row bezel ring

Stone: round brilliants in graduated sizes, with one short grain-set run on the middle band. Metal: platinum. Setting: three joined bands, each stone in a full bezel, staggered rather than aligned. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. The stagger leaves light between the bands, so a wide ring stays open on the finger.

Pear and oval toi et moi

Stone: a pear-cut and an oval diamond set side by side. Metal: two-tone, yellow gold with white claws. Setting: claw set, the pear turned point outward, on a plain tapered shank. Hallmarked at the London Assay Office. Two shapes set to touch, which is the whole idea of a toi et moi; the pear is turned so its point leads.
