We charge a flat rate per piece, not a percentage of value. You won't be nudged toward inflated figures to raise our fee.
Valuations for pieces purchased from us within the last 12 months are complimentary.
Most insurers require valuations to be renewed every 2 to 3 years, because precious metal and diamond prices move. We recommend every 2 years for pieces with a significant gold or platinum content.
Rarely. Most assessments are completed while you wait (30 to 60 minutes per piece). For unusual or large collections we may ask to keep items overnight and will provide a signed receipt.
Yes. Our valuations are signed by a qualified gemmologist on our headed paper and are accepted by every UK jewellery insurer we've worked with. We're happy to check with your insurer in advance if you have any concern.
No issue. We assess the piece on its merits, independent of purchase history. Bring any supporting documents if you have them; they're helpful but not required.
Not for insurance or probate purposes, a physical inspection is required. We can provide a preliminary estimate from good-quality photographs and existing certificates, which is useful for quick decision-making.
