Jewellery Insurance

A bespoke item of jewellery may be worn every day, and the right cover means a loss, theft or accident need not be the end of the story. We make insurance straightforward by supplying everything your insurer needs, and by being here to remake or repair a piece we have made.

What you receive for insurance

Every commission is delivered with the documents an insurer asks for:

• Stone certificates from bodies such as GIA or IGI, where certificated stones have been purchased
• An invoice as proof of value
• Hallmarked metal in accordance with UK law: gold and palladium from 1 g, platinum from 0.5 g and silver from 7.78 g must be hallmarked under the Hallmarking Act 1973

Standalone or home contents

Jewellery can be added to a home contents policy or insured separately. A standalone policy usually offers wider cover, including accidental loss and worldwide travel, and avoids affecting your home premium if you claim. Check the single-item limit on any contents policy, as a fine ring often exceeds it.

Keeping your valuation current

Metal and diamond prices move, so a valuation should be reviewed regularly to keep your cover in step with replacement cost. We are happy to revalue a piece we have made and to update the paperwork.

If the worst happens

Because we hold the original CAD design and specification for everything we make, we can recreate a lost or damaged ring faithfully, working with you and your insurer to settle a claim and remake the piece. To commission a piece, or to ask about valuations and cover, get in touch.
