How we make them

Our jewellery designers use current CAD tools to draw up each engagement ring we make, so no two designs are alike.

Every ring is designed in CAD and then finished by hand at the bench, using a jeweller’s traditional tools.

Bring us your ideas and our in-house designers will help shape them into a piece designed for you.

Every quote is itemised in full before any work begins, and you deal directly with the jewellers who design and finish your ring.

Designed from your idea

A bespoke engagement ring begins with a conversation, in the studio, by phone or by WhatsApp. Tell us what you have in mind: the stone, the metal, how the ring should sit on the hand and what you would like to spend. If you already own a stone, we can design the ring around it.

We then draw the ring in CAD and show it to you from several angles, refining it with you until it is right. CAD design is from £300. The fee is non-refundable, and it is credited to the commission if you go ahead. You receive a full, itemised quote, and nothing is made until you approve the design. Your ring is cast and set by specialist workshops and finished by hand at our Hatton Garden bench, then hallmarked at the London Assay Office and delivered to you fully insured in considered presentation packaging. Typical turnaround is three to four weeks from approval. If you are working to a particular date, let us know and we will do everything we can to meet it.

After your order

Once your ring is ready, we will arrange a time for you to visit our Hatton Garden studio, try it on, and see the finished piece up close.

Because each ring is made to your specification, it is exempt from the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected, so if a piece is faulty or not as described we will repair, replace or refund. If anything arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours.

Before you commit, we encourage you to book a consultation. Our team will talk through every aspect of your commission and show you examples of past pieces we have made.

Engagement ring design

A bespoke ring is designed with you from the beginning, around the stone you choose and the way you want the ring to sit on the hand. We design it in CAD at our studio inside The Goldsmiths' Centre and finish it by hand at our bench, with casting and stone setting carried out by specialist workshops. Every ring arrives in considered presentation packaging. If you would rather begin from one of our designs, you can start with our setting designs or start with a diamond instead.

How long does it take to create a bespoke engagement ring in Hatton Garden?

Our bespoke engagement rings typically take 3 to 4 weeks to make once your CAD design is approved, around 4 to 6 weeks end to end from your first consultation. We work from our Hatton Garden studio, and you approve the CAD design before anything is made.

What is the price of a bespoke engagement ring at Hatton Garden Bespoke Jewellery?

Bespoke engagement rings start from £2,000. Most clients commission in the £3,000 to £12,000 range. Larger commissions are quoted individually, and some go well beyond £20,000. GIA or IGI certification is available on centre stones. We accept Visa, Mastercard and bank transfer.

Do your diamonds come with a GIA or IGI grading report?

A GIA or IGI grading report is available on centre-stone diamonds. Smaller accent stones (under 0.25ct) aren't typically graded individually. Every report can be verified online with the lab that issued it: GIA Report Check or IGI report verification.

What is the difference between laboratory-grown and natural diamonds?

Laboratory-grown diamonds are chemically, physically and optically identical to natural diamonds. The only difference is their origin. Laboratory-grown diamonds usually cost a fraction of the price of a natural diamond of the same grade. We can source both and advise which suits your budget and preferences.
