Resizing gold rings

Gold must be handled carefully during resizing. Each alloy behaves differently, whether it is:

• Rose gold

At Hatton Garden Bespoke Jewellery, we match the exact alloy and colour tone before resizing. After laser welding, the ring is carefully refinished and polished to restore its original shine.

The ring comes back at the new size with no visible marks or change of colour.


Resizing platinum rings

Platinum is denser and more complex to work with than gold. It requires specialist knowledge and the correct equipment.

Many jewellers avoid platinum resizing because of its difficulty. We resize platinum as well as gold.

Our platinum resizing service ensures:

Designing for later resizing

When creating bespoke jewellery in Hatton Garden, we always consider future resizing. A well-designed ring allows for safe adjustments without compromising the setting or structure. Please note that full eternity and stone-set-shank rings cannot be resized in the usual way, and may need the shank rebuilt.

If you are planning a new ring, the band matters as much as the stone. You can choose your setting first in the Ring Studio and add the diamond afterwards, so the shank is designed with later resizing in mind.

If your ring was made by Hatton Garden Bespoke Jewellery, it was designed with long-term wear and later adjustment in mind.

We can also resize rings bought elsewhere.

On cost: for a ring we have made, sizing down is complimentary and sizing up is quoted individually, depending on how much metal we need to add. For a ring made by another jeweller, resizing is a chargeable service, quoted once we have seen the piece.
