We design each one in CAD in-house and hand-finish it at our own bench, with casting and setting carried out by specialist workshops, and GIA or IGI certification available on centre stones.
The sapphire
Sapphire is the gem-quality form of corundum, the same mineral as ruby. At 9 on the Mohs scale it is second only to diamond in hardness, well suited to a ring worn every day. The classic blues come from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and Madagascar, from soft cornflower to deep royal. Sapphire is not only blue: pink, yellow and teal stones are all corundum, as are rarer untreated sapphires prized for their natural colour. Natural and heat-treated stones
Most sapphires are heat-treated, a long-established process that improves colour and clarity. There is nothing wrong with a well-treated stone, and it accounts for the majority set in fine jewellery. What matters is that you know what you are buying. We tell you which stones are heat-treated and which are not, and we can source certified untreated sapphires when that is what you want. Where the centre stone carries GIA or IGI certification, the disclosure is independent.
Pairing and settings
Metal choice shapes how a sapphire reads. White metals, platinum or white gold, cool and sharpen a blue stone, while yellow gold lends warmth and a more vintage character. Diamond-set shoulders add brightness along the band, and a halo of white diamonds lifts the sapphire’s colour while increasing its apparent size. We model these options in CAD so you can judge the effect before any metal is cut.
Commissioning a bespoke sapphire ring with us
We design in CAD in-house and hand-finish at our own bench, with casting and setting carried out by specialist workshops. After a consultation we prepare CAD renders, for a design fee from £300 that is non-refundable and credited to the commission if you go ahead. Work on the ring starts once you approve them. Bespoke engagement rings start from £2,000, with most commissions between £3,000 and £12,000. London Assay Office hallmarking is included on every ring.
